Sleep deprivation is not a direct cause of acne–but it definitely affects acne. If you had enough sleep, your pimple may be banished because you’ll be getting all the healthy benefits of having a good rest. Because sleep is one of the important things that your body needs.

Observe that when you’re not having quality sleep, like sleeping for 5 to 6 hours only but waking up relaxed and refreshed rather than tired even after sleeping for up to 10 hours, your skin would appear blotched and reddish in spots. If you had acne, they will look inflamed. Sleep deprivation also increases resistance to insulin, which could lead to diabetes. This condition could get the inflammation of acne worse.

Another direct effect of sleep deficit is obesity. Lack of sleep causes increase on Grehlin levels, which boost appetite, and excessive production stress hormones, which regulates digestion and immune system.

All these negative conditions caused by only a few hours of sleep deficit will surely aggravate your acne. Therefore, if your body were healthy and your body chemistry happy, your skin would be clear. Teenagers should learn and acquire good sleeping habits while still young because acne is not exclusive to teenage skin.

So what should the parents do to prevent those kiddie teeth from aching due to candy binge?

1.    Divert the kids’ attention from trick-or-treating by taking them to a party.
2.    Feed those small sugar monsters with hamburgers or sausages before you allow them to eat any trick-or-treat candies. Protein and fat slow down sugar absorption.
3.    Pick out the best candies. Check the content of each kid’s bag. Candies containing hydrogenated oil, corn syrup, artificial colorings, and other questionable ingredients are unhealthy. Choose candies made with nuts, cereals, seeds, preserved fruits, and dark chocolates.
4.    Be prepared for the worst. Buy several bags of high-quality candies and hide them from the kids. If all candies did not pass your quality control, replace these with your healthy ones so that the kids wouldn’t be disappointed.

Some researches show, behavioral changes in children are not caused by the effects of sugar but rather the lack of sugar. When levels of blood sugar get too high, a hormone called insulin is released to flush out sugar from the blood. When sugar levels drop suddenly, the body will feel sluggish and will crave for sugar. Eating candies could be a nice treat when done in moderation.

Now that your child has gone back to school after the end of the summer holidays, the homework begins again. As a parent, it can be beneficial to both you and your child to help with the work that they take home from school. Not only will you be showing an interest in what your child is learning, but you will also be able to understand your child’s strengths and help them to overcome any difficulties that they may have.

When your child needs help with their homework, you need to make sure that you do not end up doing it for them. Help them with any questions that they may have, and work through any problems together. You will want to nominate an area of your home as the homework area, making sure that all necessary tools (pens, paper etc…) are at hand. You will want to ensure that there are no distractions, so turn the television and radio off before you get started. If your child is hungry however, do take a break and give them something to eat.

Pay attention to the homework and follow any guidelines that the teacher may have included. If your child has a question, try to refrain from giving them the answer, but help them come to it on their own. If they are doing research, help them to rewrite passages into their own words and make sure that they are not copying whole sections. Schools are happy for you as a parent to help your child with their homework as long as you are not helping them too much. They still need to understand everything as they will more than likely have exams on it later. Be encouraging to your child, and spend time helping them to understand.

Time to get your child potty trained? Most children start learning to use a potty by their second birthday, although all kids are different and some begin earlier as well as later. There are many tell-tale signs to indicate whether your child is ready to be trained on using the potty, and these will be able to help you to get started.

As you baby starts growing older, you will begin to notice a change in their toilet habits. One of the first signs to look out for is that they can stay drier for longer. This typically shows that your child is able to control their bladder movement and may be ready to start on their potty training adventure.  Your child may start experiencing a more regular bowel movement, which could take place at a similar time each day, or at the end of a meal. They may squat and indicate to you that they need to go, or may actually tell you straight. Your toddler may also start taking an interest when you go to the toilet which is another sign that they may be ready to start learning on their own.

When your child is learning to use the potty, you will want to be very encouraging and lavish praise on them so that they know that what they are doing is right. Some children learn quickly, and others do not, so do not fret if it takes time. Be patient with your child and help them along the way. You should give your child clothes that are easy to pull down to make things that little bit easier. If your child has an accident, refrain from getting upset, but try to encourage them yet again. When your child starts to keep dry throughout the night, you may want to consider losing their nappies. Teach your child to wash their hands after they have used the potty, and they will soon pick it up on their own.

Are you thinking about getting a dog, but are not sure whether it would be a good idea? Your child may want a dog badly, and you may think it sounds idyllic. Whether you have a dog, or are considering getting one, there are certain things that you can do to make your child aware of  his safety around a pet. You may have heard stories on the news about a child getting bitten by a dog, but if you educate your child on how to behave around an animal, it can make them understand safe behaviour and decrease any risk of getting hurt.

One of the things that you often see is a child pulling a dog around by its tail or trying to sit on it. Show your child how to stroke a dog, and teach them not to hug the dog in a strangle hold. Your dog may not be aggressive by nature, but if it feels threatened it may reciprocate the feeling. Teach your child not to look straight into the dog’s eyes as this can also make it feel intimidated. Leave it alone while it is trying to eat or sleep, and treat your pet with kindness and love. The feelings will be returned and owning a dog can be a great experience for your child.

If you are struggling to cope with your child’s erratic sleeping patterns, there are several tips that you can try that may help your child to get more of the much needed sleep.

In order to try to get your child into a rhythm, you will need to establish a pattern of bedtimes so that they can get used to the familiar routine. You may opt to give your baby a bath and then put them to bed. Give them a little bit of time to unwind and try to keep noise levels down to relax them. You should however still keep normal household noises up, as this will reassure your child and make them feel secure. If they are in the habit of getting up and finding you, be firm and bring them back to bed.

If your child has the habit of waking up too early in the morning, use dark curtains so that the light is not what wakens them. Leave some toys in their bedroom which will keep them busy until they hear the rest of the family wake up. If your child tends to wake up in the middle of the night, make sure that you keep the lights dimmed and that you speak quietly to soothe them. Do not encourage play as this will only wake them up even more.

A familiar routine will help your child get a better night sleep. Before putting your child to bed, never excite them as you will struggle to get them to go to sleep. You can also cut down on afternoon nap times which will ensure that they will be more ready to slip into bed. If your child has been active during the day, they will certainly be more tired at night.

Many parents are choosing to give their baby organic foods which are also healthier for their baby. Changing to organic clothes and bedding is another way to become greener. You may be surprised at how well your baby will take to these items, as there are no residual pesticides on any of the garments. Cotton in general may have residue left on them which could trigger eczema or rash on your babies skin, so natural products are the way to go.

Your child is finally growing up and these pre-teenage years can be difficult for both you and your child. You may be getting along great one minute only to find that you are arguing the next. This is a transition period for your youngster; not quite an adult and not quite a child anymore.  They crave to be treated like adults and want the freedom it entails. Yet they still need you to be their parents and to love them for who they are. It can be a difficult transition which may lead to arguments and rebellion. Not knowing where you stand from one minute to the next can be hard, but there are many ways to cope with these transitory years of your child’s life.

Although you may feel that your baby is pushing you away, you will need to acknowledge that they are becoming adults and help them in this new stage of their lives. Try not to treat them as children anymore, and be patient with their mood swings. Respect their privacy and give them their own space to grow. A little bit of praise and encouragement would not go amiss, and be there for them when they need you. As your child grows up, they may feel like they are drifting further away from you. Take an interest in what they are doing, and let them know that you are always there if they wish to talk. If your child confides in you with a problem or a crush that they may have, pay attention no matter how trivial it may seem to you.

As your child grows into an adult, they will need your support even if they think they don’t. Give them some breathing space, but always be there for them if they need advice and affection. As your child becomes a teenager, mood swings are common as they struggle between being an adult and a child. They will outgrow these moods, so try to avoid letting them get to you too much.

Most babies get their first teeth when they are around six months old, although this does vary and can be as early as three months or as late as fourteen. Aside from seeing the tooth start poking through, there are many telltale signs that you can look out for to tell you that your baby may be starting to get their first teeth.

Before your baby’s tooth comes out, you may notice that their gums are looking sore or bruised. They may also experience excessive drooling as the time approaches, as well the desire to chew on things. Your baby may become a little bit more irritable as their teeth start poking through and this can typically occur at night time. They may start pulling on their ears as the pain of the tooth transfers itself to the ear canal. If you have been feeding your baby with solid foods, you may find that all of a sudden they want to go back to liquids. This is because of the tenderness of their gums which may make it difficult for them to chew.

Parents all have different ideas and techniques to help their baby with teething pains, so you may want to ask for advice from friends or family. Trying to take your baby’s mind off their discomfort is one of the easiest things that you can do by pampering them or cuddling them. You may want to try a frozen cloth or teething toy which can also soothe your baby’s gums. If the tooth has not poked through yet, a little bit of gentle massaging on the gums can be very helpful for your baby.

hen babies are first born they have a little bit of natural immunity to disease, but immunisation will offer your child additional protection from serious illnesses.  Immunisation typically begins when your baby is two months old, which is when the natural immunity they received from the mother will begin to disappear.

There are many immunisations available for your child, and you will want to speak to a health advisor to find out what would be required in your area. Many diseases are preventable by taking the proper vaccinations, and these include tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough, measles, polio, mumps and rubella.

Tetanus is caused by bacterial spores which can enter cuts or scrapes from soils. This is a common immunisation for babies as well as adults, and is typically recommended for everyone. Measles, mumps and rubella immunisations are commonly given at a young age, and will prevent any associated problems with these diseases.

Side effects are a possibility with some of the immunisation injections, although are atypically rare. Many of the immunisations given to children will last their entire lives, and some will last up to ten years. They will protect your child from getting seriously ill with any of the preventable diseases and will make them less vulnerable.
