Do you need a little bit of extra help around the house, and are not quite sure how to go about it? Home helpers, au-pairs and baby-sitters are all options that are available to you. It can be very beneficial to have someone to help you with the children as well as around the house, especially if you are already struggling with a busy schedule.
Au-pairs are typically someone from overseas who will be doing an exchange program in order to learn more of the culture and language in your country. They will live with you and help you with the children in exchange for free lodgings and food. If you have an extra room in your home, and don’t mind letting somebody use it, then this could be a good option for you.
A home helper is also someone who will be living with you, and will help you around the house. They will generally work full time hours and look after your children on a full-time basis. A baby sitter on the other hand is someone that you can ring up and they will come and look after your kids for a set period of time. This may be over a weekend or an evening when you and your partner are going out.
There are both pros and cons to hiring someone to help you out with your children. One of the main benefits is that you will get help around the house and get a little bit more time for yourself. It can sometimes be difficult to have someone living in your house with you though, so think it over carefully before you decide. Most au-pairs, home helpers and babysitters are not qualified to care for your children, so interview them carefully and ensure that they have the personality and experience that you require.
