Do your kids constantly ask you for money? Are they always hounding you for a little bit of extra cash? Many kids these days have no concept of the value of money, and it is important that you teach them in their younger years. Many schools no longer teach students about money management, and it is vital to introduce them to the idea of monetary value while they are still young enough to understand.
What has happened to the days of kids working to earn their pocket money? If your children are always asking you for spending money, then it is time that you made them earn it from you. Why not get them to help you out with the housework or to help you with the dishes after dinner? Helping around the house will not only teach your kids the importance of housekeeping, but it will help take the strain off of you and your partner. Your kids will feel more needed as they learn to clean up after themselves. If your children are a bit older, then encourage them to get a job. A paper round or washing cars never hurt us when we were younger! In the long run, it will be rewarding for your children to earn some money as opposed to having it easy. It will also make them respect you more and learn to respect the value of money.
Although you are bound to be met by moans and groans when you first tell them of your plan, they will soon get round to the idea. You will be surprised at just how quickly they will get around to your way of thinking, and how soon they will be offering to help you out with the chores.
